what i’m about

i was born and raised in medellín, colombia. i am a storyteller. i am a film director. i live within the liminal spaces of NYC; i live neither here nor there.

my favorite quote is below. and i share it bc there is a lot of fear out there when it comes to telling stories. brands, artists or in general just people trying to be creative succumb to fear. i get it. i truly do. and fear is essential too but here is what i believe:

“I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain”.

in creative terms, nothing great has ever come from making decisions from fear and in case it’s not clear: FEAR IS THE MIND-KILLER.

I’ve learned that the best decisions are made when operating from a place of calmness, from being grounded… in contrast to anxiety and afraid. i’ve found meditation to be a phenomenal tool to help me be present and intentional.

my favorite art form is music. love musicians but also I truly love tattoo artists; I don’t wish I was one, but I love their craft. i respect people who get tattoos for the first time; why? the reason is simple, all elements that are key for human connection come together; trust and fearlessness peppered in with some creativity.

a few principles I live for: 1. Sleep well. Sleep is a super power. good sleep = high performance. 2. Story is king. A good story will change the world; everything is a story. 3. you are only as good as the people you surround yourself with. 4. people work best, when they are in the same frequency 5. work with people with a point of view, not with people who do what you tell them. 6. listen. 7. make a big effort to understand and have empathy for all (yes, I believe radical empathy is the foremost solution to our problems) 8. Vulnerability is intentional. 8. don’t try to make things, just make them. 9. you set your own value, no one else does.

another favorite quote: wisdom is knowing i am nothing, love is knowing i am everything, and between the two my life moves.
